I’m so happy to be back in this space! When my business took a different turn in 2015, I decided to stop the blog as well, although my sewing continued! For the last four years I entered an exciting time of getting to be a sewing teacher for the first time. I taught in a Christian hybrid school, and had 12 students at a time, ages 8-15! Can you imagine what that looked like? Many students had never sewn at all, while others had a bit of experience with their mothers or grandmothers. Class time was indeed literally a zoo, but so fun and entirely rewarding! We worked on projects from wrist wallets, to cross body bags, stuffed animals, pillowcases, and even simple skirts and shorts! I even had boys in each class, and would just modify the projects to fit their style! I learned a great deal, and grew as a seamstress in the process! In 2018, I stopped teaching at the school, and started giving private lessons in my home and at my local Hobby Lobby.

In 2018, I had the privilege of being asked to be costume designer for a local high school as they performed, Once Upon A Mattress! What an incredible time and honor! I borrowed a lot of costumes for the musical, but also got to design and create about 8 of my own custom looks as well! I felt so proud, accomplished, and increased my sewing knowledge! I still need to learn better fitting principles for each size, but I gave me so much confidence to create my own designs!

This year, in 2019, I’m still teaching private lessons, I am costume designer for a new, local high school this spring, and I am re-launching my sewing business focused around costume design! I’m excited to make you quality projects that you and your kids can make together, and provide more authentic, quality costume patterns that you have grown to appreciate and love from Joy2Sew! This is going to be an exciting year, and I thank you for joining back in and being such faithful followers and makers!
