For today’s blog post, I am excited to introduce you to my sister, Amy, who wanted to share a little encouragement to new sewers out there who want to sew up an Anna outfit, and are maybe a little afraid. She used my Princess Anna Inspired Costume Pattern recently, and this is how it went…
The movie FROZEN has taken over the minds of little girls all across
America! My daughter has been no exception. Lucky for us we are related to one of the best seamstresses in town! My sister has been very generous at making her niece a VERY happy little FROZEN princess, several times!!!
(See more of this sewing journey with her here)
When a friend of my daughter saw these beautiful dresses, she asked for an Anna one for her birthday.
Because she is the sweetest little girl, I found myself saying yes before
I knew what was out of my mouth!
I asked my sister to send her Anna dress pattern over! I’m not gonna lie, when I saw all the pages of directions I was pretty sure there was NO WAY I was going to be able to sew this dress!! I can sew curtains and maybe a very very basic dress. I thought I would start with the skirt since it seemed the easiest. I finished sewing it in 1/2 an hour! I couldn’t believe it!!! The directions were amazing! So clear and easy to read and understand.
I was still somewhat intimidated by the big cape but ended up spending just a couple of hours on it total. Again, the easy directions and pictures made it possible!
*I did cheat by asking my sister to make the vest and stencil the skirt while I played with this cutie……
…..and held this little handsome baby.
Hey, we all have to make sacrifices
!

Here is my daughter’s friend in her complete Anna outfit!
I am still shocked I made it! I have NEVER made anything like that before!
The little group of girls enjoyed watching FROZEN and then reciting it word for word the rest of the day!!
(The Elsa Ice Dress and Coronation Dress pictured above were made by my sister and pattern designer of Joy2Sew)
I am so thankful that using this pattern gave me such a confidence in sewing!! I am ready to make some skirts for summer now!!! Well, after my sister draws a pattern for them!! Hint, hint Joy!!
