Just a little more Sofia the First for you! I am still a little giddy after releasing  my first pattern…can you tell??? You can get the Sofia pattern HERE, if you still don’t have a copy to make for your little girl or granddaughter! Shameless promotion, I know. Go with it : )!
In late June, I released my pattern to some testers from across the United States. Most were eager Moms and Grandmother’s excited, and on a mission, to make their little girl into that very Princess. I’m glad I came along at just the right time to oblige!
They have impressed me by how quickly they have put gowns together for their little princesses, using the materials available to them in their local areas. These women showed their creative skill, as my first pattern draft, that they had to work from, was so very far from complete. These were some talented sewing women, and all of them so very helpful at making my pattern into the creation it is. They had some really great insights, helpful hints, and beautiful renditions.
I wanted to just showcase a few, stunning “Sofias” for you today!
#1: Mandy’s Daughter ~
Mandy is an awesome mom of 3 girls, and it has been such a pleasure to correspond with her through her Sofia dress-making adventure! I am amazed by the great work she has done on her daughter’s dress,  and that she has shown the versatility of the pattern by changing up the bodice with the use of the Casa satin only, adding pearls (“As Sofia must-have,” she was told by her daughter…”lots of pearls, Mom!!”), creating a shorter puff sleeve, and stretch back for easy on/off, and a beautiful waist bunting peplum out of the satin. I love her Sofia look, and know her daughter is pleased…especially since she got to have the first dress before her sister did : )! Way to go, Mandy, it’s beautiful! Check out the whole, entertaining story behind Mandy’s dress, and why this sister got it first, on her blog, Nothing Can Separate. And…P.S….Please help their family’s coming adoption by buying some awesome Sofia jewelry from her shop, SonBel!!! So cute!

#2: Lori’s Daughter ~
Lori’s daughter makes a wonderful Sofia the First, in her new, Mommy made gown. Just look at those beautiful smiles! Through a busy few weeks with prior commitments, Lori still managed to pull together this adorable dress for her daughter, and correspond well with me, keeping me informed of her process. She added some helpful (and money-saving) suggestions to her dress such as: using parachute cording in lieu of the purple rope trim her Jo Anns was out of, turning under the hem of the petal skirt, instead of adding a lining, and using 2/3 yard of white shiny satin for the underlay. Lori’s daughter even got to help Mommy in making her dress, by helping with the stencil. I am sure she had a blast joining in the makings!
I think that a large part of my joy flowed from getting to share in “the process” with Mandy and Lori, as they made their dresses…so very rewarding to see them so happy (and their daughters)! It was a true pleasure for me to work alongside you ladies and see your beautiful creations. That’s the best compliment any pattern-maker could get!  I sincerely thank you for all of your help, emails, and encouragements throughout it all! You both are just amazing! Thank you also for allowing me to share your beautiful work!
And a huge thank you to my other testers as well! I could not have pulled this together without you!
I look forward to seeing all of your pictures, and those as well that have received or purchased my pattern in our new Sofia Show-Off Pool on Flickr!!!
Happy Sofia Dress Making!!!!
