I simply have not been able to contain my excitement for finally getting to try out this super cute dress for Lilly! I’ve been thinking about it for literally months now. I bought this adorable fabric, “Enchanted Forrest” by Alexander Henry from Dry Goods Design last November. I then ran across this Bubble Dress pattern by Oliver + S sometime in February, and couldn’t wait to pair the two together.
My niece, Lilly, now wears a size 5, and is on the highest sizing available for this adorable dress, so I had to get going! I cut it out one evening, and then sewed it together during Nathan’s nap time the next day (over 3 hours). The little princess came over to Aunt Joy’s dress shop that evening and tried it on. Just perfect. Lilly is already completely adorable, so it’s so much fun to make her such fun things to wear. And this little girl just adores dresses!
This dress was so easy to make, and is a quite comfortable dress for Lilly to wear. My favorite part is how the elasticized bottom edge of the skirt, gives that “bubble effect”. It’s so cute. The pattern has optional side scallops, which I chose to omit on this one, but I love it. This pattern is sure to be a gift- giving staple in my sewing arsenal for little girls 5 and under this next year.
Just look how much fun this little girl and my little guy had together! Cousins are a blessed gift!
I do enjoy making Oliver + S patterns for Lilly & Nathan, as they have that touch of vintage that I just adore on children (and myself). I made Nathan the Sailboat Pants for Easter last year, his Raglan Back to the Future T-shirt, and have a couple more in the works to use for Nathan for outfits this fall.
Little girl, I just adore making you lovely things. You are a true blessing in our lives, and we love you! More from Aunt Joy’s dress shop soon!
